An overnight stay for a medical procedure can be a source of anxiety. At Ungweru Specialised Medical Centre (USMC), our entire team is dedicated to creating a peaceful, healing, and comfortable environment for you. Our goal is simple: to manage your care with expert precision so you can focus completely on your recovery. This guide explains what you can expect during your in-patient experience at our Blantyre clinic.

Your Comfort & Accommodation

We have designed our patient rooms to be private, serene spaces conducive to healing.

  • Your Private Room: You will have a clean, comfortable private room.

  • Amenities Included: Each room is equipped with an adjustable bed for your comfort, an ensuite private bathroom, a bedside table for your personal items, and a chair for your visitors.

  • A Quiet Environment: We strive to maintain a calm atmosphere throughout the centre to promote rest and recovery.

Your Dedicated Care Team

Throughout your stay, you will be in the hands of a team of skilled professionals working together to ensure you receive the best possible care.

  • Your Surgeon/Specialist: Your primary doctor will oversee your medical care, make regular visits to check on your progress, and manage your treatment plan.

  • Our Nursing Staff: Our experienced and compassionate nurses provide 24/7 care. They will administer medication, monitor your vital signs, assist with your needs, and are your first point of contact for any questions or discomfort.

What to Pack for Your Stay

To make your stay more comfortable, we recommend packing a small bag with the following items:

  • ✅ Comfortable Clothing: Loose-fitting pyjamas or clothes (e.g., gowns, shorts, t-shirts), a dressing gown, and non-slip slippers or shoes.

  • ✅ Entertainment: A book, magazine, tablet, or headphones for listening to music.

  • ✅ Important Documents: Your ID and any relevant medical information.

What to Leave at Home: To ensure their safety, please do not bring valuables, large amounts of cash, or expensive jewellery.

Meals & Nutrition

Proper nutrition is a vital part of your recovery. Our team will provide you with meals tailored to your specific dietary needs as prescribed by your doctor. If you have any allergies or specific dietary restrictions, please inform our nursing staff upon admission.

Visitors & Family Support

The support of family and friends is an important part of healing. We welcome visitors while also ensuring our patients get the rest they need.

Your safety is our absolute priority. We have several systems in place to ensure you are secure and well-cared for.
