The support of family and friends is a powerful part of the healing process, and we warmly welcome visitors to Ungweru Specialised Medical Centre (USMC). To ensure our patients receive the rest they need to recover, we have established dedicated visiting hours and guidelines. Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe, peaceful, and healing environment for everyone under our care.

Designated Visiting Hours

To provide a balance of support and rest for our patients, visiting is welcome during the following times:

Guidelines for a Healing Environment

To ensure the comfort and safety of all our patients, we kindly ask that you observe the following guidelines during your visit:

  • ✅ Limit Visitors: To prevent our patients from becoming overtired, we request a maximum of two visitors at the bedside at any one time.

  • ✅ Hand Hygiene: For the protection of your loved ones, please sanitise your hands upon entering and leaving the centre. Hand sanitiser is readily available.

  • ✅ If You Are Unwell: If you have a cough, cold, fever, or any other signs of illness, please postpone your visit until you are feeling better. This is crucial for protecting vulnerable patients.

  • ✅ Maintain a Quiet Atmosphere: Please be mindful of other patients by speaking softly and avoiding loud conversations in the hallways.

  • ✅ Supervise Children: If you need to bring children, please ensure they are supervised at all times and do not cause a disturbance to other patients.

  • ✅ Food & Gifts: Before bringing food or flowers, please check with the nursing staff to ensure they are appropriate for the patient’s condition and that there are no allergies.

The Role of the Support Person

You are a vital partner in your loved one’s care. Here are a few ways you can be most supportive during your visit:

  • Be a Listener: Sometimes, the best support you can offer is simply to listen.

  • Keep It Brief: Even a short visit can make a big difference. It’s often better to have short, frequent visits than one long one that can be tiring for the patient.

  • Communicate: Offer to be the point of contact to update other family and friends. This allows the patient to focus on resting.

Contacting the Ward

If you are unable to visit and wish to check on your loved one, a designated family member may call the clinic for an update.

Thank You

Thank you for your cooperation and for being a part of our patient’s support network. Your respect for these guidelines helps us provide the best possible care for your loved one.
